82 Green Kindergartens Certified in 2008
Updated: 12/22/2008

In a special ceremony, held in Bar-Ilan University on December 14, 2008, 48 green kindergartens located in the Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, central and southern districts of Israel were certified. An additional 34 kindergartens were certified on December 3, 2008 in a Haifa ceremony, of which 8 hailed from the Arab sector. In all, 82 green kindergartens were certified in 2008, compared to 32 in 2007.

According to the head of the Education Division in the Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection, Zivit Linder, green kindergarten certification is undertaken in cooperation with the Ministry of Education. In order to be officially certified, kindergartens must demonstrate their achievements in three areas:

  1. Environmental curriculum
  2. Rational use of resources
  3. Contribution to the community

For a list of the kindergartens certified in 2008,  please see the Hebrew website of the Ministry of Environmental Protection
